4to24 App
The 4to24 app is a free resource for parents of children and youth who are blind, have low vision, or are deafblind with additional disabilities. It covers ages 4 to 24 years, to go from preschool age into young adulthood and early career. Modules of information are delivered from the app over time based on things such as the child’s age or experiences. The modules are self-paced (no deadlines!), so parents can use the information at their convenience.

Availability of Mental Health Services for Individuals who are Deaf or Deafblind
A survey of state mental health agencies found that a majority have no specific policy or procedure regarding how to provide mental health services to persons who are deaf or who are deafblind. Agency representatives report that staff lack knowledge of how to provide mental health services to persons who are deafblind and the agencies lack qualified interpreters. They recommend training for social workers and counselors to address best practices in working with people who are deafblind concerning communication methods and strategies, physical interaction, cultural issues, everyday life, sensory deprivation, ethics, use of an interpreter, and other general issues.

Job Retention and Career Advancement Resources
The WIOA stresses the importance of helping people with disabilities retain and advance in their careers. To assist with this endeavor, the NRTC has developed two checklists to assess the need for career advancement or job retention services for employed VR consumers. Because many persons with visual impairments request services while employed, these checklists are ideal for use during intake. However, for those consumers who gain employment later in the VR process, these checklists can help you assess if they have any job retention or advancement needs prior to closure as rehabilitated.

Report: Youth with Deafblindness
This report provides a picture of a nationally representative sample of deafblind youth during the 2000s (from 2001 to 2009), obtained from the National Longitudinal Transition Study-2 (NLTS2). The literature about transition-age youth with deafblindness is extremely limited; in response to this lack of research, the purpose of this report is to describe the characteristics, secondary school experiences, academic achievements, postsecondary school attendance, and employment experiences of this population from the perspectives of parents/guardians, youth, and teachers.

Services for Consumers who are Deafblind: Vocational Rehabilitation Agency Service Models Utilized and Their Effectiveness
The purpose of this study was to investigate vocational rehabilitation (VR) service models used for providing services to consumers who are deafblind and their effectiveness. Four VR agency service models were identified: specialist, professional collaboration, specialist plus professional collaboration, and miscellaneous. Significant differences in competitive employment closure rates were found based on the service model type.

This resource guide was developed to assist Randolph-Sheppard Business Enterprise Program (BEP) staff working with blind entrepreneurs with hearing loss. It gives suggestions and strategies for accommodating these entrepreneurs in training activities, on-the-job, and at meetings. It also contains advice from blind entrepreneurs with hearing loss and from BEP staff experienced in working with this demographic. The guide can serve as one resource BEP staff can use when working with a blind entrepreneur with hearing loss for the first time. An additional purpose of this guide is to promote the fact that individuals with combined hearing and vision loss are and can be highly successful entrepreneurs in the Randolph-Sheppard Program.
