The National Research & Training Center on Blindness and Low Vision (NRTC) is honored to receive a $5,000 grant from the Delta Gamma Foundation to promote outreach for the 4to24 app. We are excited to use these funds to reach more families of children and youth who are blind or have low vision.
With this grant, the NRTC will launch a targeted social media advertising campaign to reach parents and caregivers of children and youth who are blind, have low vision, or are deafblind with additional disabilities, and inform them about how the app can help their children become career-ready in adulthood.
The 4to24 app is a free resource designed for parents of children and youth ages 4 through 24, spanning preschool through young adulthood. 4to24 provides brief, actionable guidance, activities families can try at home or in the community, and links to trustworthy resources. The app helps parents become knowledgeable and empowered partners in their child’s development, ultimately preparing the youth for independence and employment.
The Delta Gamma Foundation, affiliated with the Delta Gamma sorority, is dedicated to improving lives through philanthropy and service. The Foundation’s Service for Sight philosophy focuses on access and advocacy for people who are blind or visually impaired. The foundation also supports the five schools founded by Delta Gammas, as well as other organizations across North America that serve the blindness and low vision community.
We are grateful for the Delta Gamma Foundation’s partnership and the trust it places in our work. By expanding awareness of the 4to24 app, more families will have access to practical, research-informed guidance when they need it.
The NRTC focuses on employment outcomes of people with blindness or low vision (B/LV), providing training, technical assistance, and resources for professionals and people with B/LV interested in employment through funding from the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research grant #90RTEM0007.
