The Older Individuals who are Blind Technical Assistance Center (OIB-TAC) is excited to announce that it has been refunded a five-year grant from the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) under the U.S. Department of Education. This funding will allow OIB-TAC to continue supporting professionals and programs that serve older adults who are blind or have low vision. The new grant cycle begins on October 1, 2025, and extends through September 30, 2030.
Kendra Farrow, project director of OIB-TAC, shared her enthusiasm for the grant renewal and explained how these funds will be used. “New funding for the NRTC ensures continued access to high-quality training and technical assistance through the OIB-TAC for programs receiving federal funding for provision of independent living services for older individuals 55 and older.”
Under this new funding cycle, OIB-TAC will continue to offer a robust range of services, including continuing education online courses and webinars, monthly meetings for program managers, quarterly meetings for service contractors, and an annual program manager conference. Intensive, technical assistance will also be provided to three states each year, while individualized support remains available to any program or professional, upon request.
With this grant, OIB-TAC will build on its strong foundation and continue advancing the blindness and low vision field through innovation, collaboration, and high-quality support.
