Advisory Council Assembles

Portrait of Advisory Council Members

The NRTC held the first Advisory Council meeting for its new Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (RRTC) grant. The Council members include regional and national blindness and low vision experts and thought leaders representing a diverse group of government agencies, non-profit organizations, and international corporations. During the two-day meeting, the Council provided input and guidance to the NRTC research and training staff regarding the recently-awarded, five-year grant from the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR).

The NIDILRR grant supports the establishment of an RRTC on Employment for Individuals with Blindness or Other Visual Impairments through six new research projects and training, technical assistance, and dissemination activities. The comprehensive industry knowledge, organizational perspectives, and constructive recommendations of the Council assist the NRTC in realizing the project goals.
