Disabilities Awareness Month

This October, President Barack Obama issued presidential proclamations designating October, 2011, as Disabilities Awareness Month, and renamed White Cane Safety Day (October 15) Blind Americans Equality Day. The President's Committee on Employment of the Disabled focused on specific topics each week throughout the month of October, 2011: 10/03 - 10/07: Youth Transitions into Health Care Careers; 10/10 - 10/14: Vocational Rehabilitation Services Make a Difference; 10/17 - 10/21: Business Leadership; 10/24 - 10/28: A Career in Public Services; 10/31 - 11/04: Keeping Talent Working.
