Rehabilitation Research and Training Center building located on the campus of Mississippi State University

The RRTC was established in October 1981, through support from the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) of the U.S. Department of Education. We are the nation's only RRTC studying blindness and low vision. Continuous renewal of NIDRR support reaffirms the U.S. government's commitment to the Center's mission.

Our mission is to enchance employment and independent living outcomes for individuals who are blind or visually impaired through research, training, education, and dissemination.
